Preconditioning with far-infrared irradiation enhances proliferation, cell survival, and migration of rat bone marrow-derived stem cells via CXCR4-ERK pathways

Abstract: Far-infrared radiation (FIR) has been shown to exert positive effects on the cardiovascular system. However, the biological effects of FIR on bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSCs) are not understood. In the present study, BMSCs were isolated from rat femur bone marrow and cultured in vitro. To investigate the effects of an FIR generator with an energy flux of 0.13 mW/cm2 on rat BMSCs, survival of BMSCs was measured by crystal violet staining, and cell proliferation was additionally measured using Ez-Cytox cel… Show more

“…The method for transwell migration assay was detailed elsewhere. 6,31 In brief, MDA-MB-231 cells treated with different conditions for 24 hours were seeded into the upper transwell chambers (Corning, Lot#3422) containing DMEM medium without FBS (30 000 cells seeded per chamber). The chambers were inserted into each well of 24-well plates containing 600 μL DMEM medium with 10% FBS.…”

“…FIR radiation could be applied directly into patient's mouth to diminish large amounts of RNA viruses on surface of cells, which could shut off the circulation of them and improve lung activation by absorbing fresh and clean air. As FIR radiation could improve cell proliferation (Jeong et al, 2017), it might improve highly injured lung to recover. Further, as FIR radiation could penetrate about 4 cm tissue (Mero et al, 2015), it would be very helpful to apply FIR radiation to RNA virus infected patients' skin to improve cell activity and inhibit RNA virus in blood.…”

“…StepOnePlus real-time PCR system (Applied Biosystems). The relative gene expression from all data were obtained using the ΔCt method with normalization versus RPL-32 as previously described [16,19]. The primers used were: NK 1 R (Forward-TACACTGTGGGGCCAGTGAGATC, Reverse-GGTACACACAACCACGATCATCA); c-KIT (Forward-AGACGTACAGATCCAGAATG, Reverse-TGCTCTTTGCTGTTACCTT); NANOG (Forward-CTCTCTACCATTCTGAACCTGAGC, Reverse-TCAGGCCGTTGCTAGTCTTC); OCT4 (Forward-GCCCCCATTTCACCACACT, Reverse-CCAGAGCAGTGACAGGAACA); SOX2…”
