Preconcentration procedure using vortex agitator system for determination of trace levels of cadmium by flame atomic absorption spectrometry

… Show more

“…The limit of detection (LOD) and quantification were calculated on the basis of 3 S b /m and 10 S b /m (n ¼ 10) (S b is the standard deviation of the blank and m is the slope of calibration curve after extraction), were 0.5 and 1.7 mg/L, respectively. The obtained LOD value for Cd was sufficiently low as compared to a reported work [37] and to be valuable for detecting Cd in different types of water samples.…”

“…In this study, FAAS was selected as a determination method and samples were diluted to a certain volume before injecting into the detection system. About vortex agitation, Chamsaz et al [29] firstly employed VALLME for the determination of trace amounts of cadmium by FAAS. In this research, the IL 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([Hmim][PF 6 ]), was used as an extractant solvent, Cd 2+ was complexed with APDC, and then extracted into fine IL droplets by the assistance of vortex agitator system.…”

“…These techniques are termed temperatureassisted DLLME (TA-DLLME) or cold-induced aggregation microextraction (CIAME), ultrasound-assisted DLLME (USA-DLLME) and IL-based microwave-assisted dispersive LLME (IL-MA-DLLME), respectively. The use of vortex stirring is a simple alternative to avoid the need for a third component or solvent (vortex-assisted DLLME) [15,39,84]. Temperature in TA-DLLME increases solubility of the IL phase, so full contact between the two phases is obtained.…”

“…Using the VA-LLME technique, Chamsaz et al developed analytical methods for Pb and Cd determination in samples of spinach leaves, apple and rice. In addition to the simplicity of this microextraction technique, TX-100 was used as dispersant solvent, which avoided the application of volatile organic solvents [15,39]. Another method aimed to determine trace amounts of Mo(VI) in three plant samples (mint, black pepper and fenugreek leaves) was developed using the IL [C6mim][Tf2N] in a DLLME procedure.…”
