Precise Point Positioning with the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System

Abstract: By the end of 2012, China had launched 16 BeiDou-2 navigation satellites that include six GEOs, five IGSOs and five MEOs. This has provided initial navigation and precise pointing services ability in the Asia-Pacific regions. In order to assess the navigation and positioning performance of the BeiDou-2 system, Wuhan University has built up a network of BeiDou Experimental Tracking Stations (BETS) around the World. The Position and Navigation Data Analyst (PANDA) software was modified to determine the orbits of… Show more

“…In particular, the results that were obtained by processing the data generated by integrating the GPS and BeiDou systems were reported recently (Zhao et al 2013;Li et al 2014). Research conducted to improve the visibility and availability of satellites has also been performed in parallel as the number of navigation satellites increase (Ji et al 2013;Lee & Jee 2014).…”

“…In outdoor environments, people have adopted Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs) such as the Global Positioning System (GPS) and BeiDou System to conduct the positioning [1][2][3]. However, these systems fail to work in many indoor or underground environments due to the fact that the signal from the satellites is generally blocked by the buildings or ground.…”

“…Some articles have introduced much information related to this field, and most studies were conducted before formal operation began in the Asian region. [23][24][25][26] By analyzing the results of these two indicators, we can conclude the accuracy of satellite positioning results. The gap of C06 decreases with elevation and B1 C/N 0 is close to B2 above 55 degrees, even stronger than B2.…”
