“…Pool C, prepared by DEAE-cellulose chromotography of a water soluble fraction of DMLL, possessed higher water solubility, higher allergenic activity and somewhat fewer compo nents than DMLL. Microimmunoelectrophoretic precipitin pat terns of DMLL and Pool C against a hyperimmune rabbit anti dwarf-ragweed antiserum* have been presented previously (10). DX which had been washed four times with water did not form precipitin bands against this antiserum.…”

“…To minimize variations in titer produced by different lots of erythrocytes, antisera obtained from a given bleeding and other bleedings were analyzed simultaneously. Microimmunoelectrophoretic analysis of each antiserum was performed in the manner described previously (5,10).…”

“…Whole antisera (in some cases decomplcmented with a heterologous immune precipitate) were selected which had relatively high haemagglutination titers of at least 2500 (tanned red cell method, ref. 4,5). Crude y-globulin fractions were obtained from whole sera by sodium sulphate precipitation and chromatographed on DEAE-cellulose by either of two methods [7,8] to obtain yG proteins.…”

“…Follow ing the demonstration of ragweed precipitating antibodies (RPAb) in whole sera of two patients who were treated with a purified small ragweed extract [4,5], we developed an immunospecific approach for the isolation of these antibodies and for similar antibodies in rabbit anti-ragweed antisera [6]. Antibodies that were obtained in this manner were qualitatively shown to possess haemagglutinating (indirect), passive cutaneous anaphylactic (in the guinea pig), and blocking (neutralizing) activities.…”
