In order to solve the problem that the activities of teachers and students in traditional teaching methods are constrained by lesson plans, the teaching methods are aging, and they do not have the ability to expand students’ learning through big data; due to the problem of low self-learning and extracurricular communication ability of students after class, the author proposes the application of a data mining model in smart chemistry education. The author designs an educational wisdom platform based on big data, and its overall structure includes physical layer, virtual resource layer, logic layer, presentation layer, application layer, network layer, and user layer; the big data center module in the platform collects all business data through devices such as networks and sensors and stores the business data in mass data storage devices; the software design part uses the multi-feature fusion acquisition algorithm to collect student data and completes the early warning of student performance through the performance early warning algorithm based on correlation analysis technology. The results showed that only 5.15% and 4.49% of the students who designed the platform could not improve their after-class autonomous learning and extracurricular communication skills, and more than 95% of the students had good feedback after using the platform. Conclusion. It shows that the design platform can effectively improve the students’ ability of self-learning and extracurricular communication after class, and the application efficiency is high.

The study sought to establish teachers’ perception on the use of computers to facilitate teaching and learning in Nyagatare District, Rwanda. The study was descriptive in nature. The target population was 74 teachers from which 53 participated in the study through filling a questionnaire. The study revealed that participating teachers appreciated the role of computer in facilitating learning. Teachers rated themselves as moderately computer-literate but schools did not have equipped computer laboratories and therefore access to computers was limited. As a result, teachers used their personal computers to facilitate the teaching and learning process. Based on the conclusions, the study recommends that schools should work hard together with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders towards attainment of equipped computer laboratories. To enhance teachers’ computer literacy and positive attitude towards computer use, continuous professional development is highly recommended.

More recently, Denuga & Nkengbeza (2022) also emphasized the importance of project-based learning for improving sustainability skills among pre-service teachers, without linking engagement in service-learning to community-based learning, and lifelong learning in educational institutions. This article gives a view of the plastic waste management school project of Greening Africa Together (GATo) and deals with education for sustainable development and lifelong learning in this transdisciplinary university cooperation project. The main questions arising are: how can students become aware of the problem of waste management in their school milieu and, which specific learning response can guarantee a circular economy of waste in schools? The service-learning approach of all GATo-projects consists in an interdisciplinary working group of both local and international students, who together with the community stakeholders, will find a suitable and/or affordable solution to the problem identified.
