Abstract:The aim of this study was to elucidate the effects of oral administration of Snitrosoglutathione (GSNO), a nitric oxide donor, on force production and Ca 2+ regulatory proteins in fast-twitch muscles subjected to eccentric contraction (ECC). Rats were administered 1 mmol kg -1 d -1 GSNO for five days before ECC. Force production, sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca 2+ -ATPase activity, and amounts of Ca 2+ regulatory proteins were examined after 200 ECC repetitions. Three days after ECC, the experimental extensor d… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
