Two regional composite sections in the Frasnian, Upper Devonian, of New York State result from graphic correlation of conodont species. The first extends from Frasnian conodont zones 3 to 7, the second from Frasnian zones 11 to 13c (we prefer this terminology to “Montagne Noire” or “MN” zonation as the zone-defining species occur throughout the Devonian tropics). Key beds, widely traceable bases of prominent black shales, have been used with only a few exceptions to position the lines of correlation (LOC) in the graphs. Other key beds, not used for positioning, fall exactly on the LOC supporting the hypothesis of their synchrony. Fifty-five conodont species in the New York regional composites are compared with their ranges in the global Frasnian Composite Standard proving no major discrepancies. The taxonomy ofAncyrodella nodosaUlrich and Bassler, widely misidentified in the past, has been clarified through restudy of the type specimens, resulting in its distinction fromA.hamataUlrich and Bassler (=A.buckeyensisStauffer). A new species ofPolygnathellusBassler, which is restricted to Frasnian Zone 4, is kept in open nomenclature because the rarity of specimens is insufficient to determine the extent of intraspecifc variation and whether one or two species are represented in our New York and Western Australian collections.

: This report describes for the first time a part of the Middle and Upper Devonian conodont sequence of the Sierra Negra Subfacies in the Aragonian Pyrenees (Spain), establishing the basis for further sound correlations both across the distinct Pyrenean facies and subfacies and on other relevant world areas. The description of 20 conodont taxa and their stratigraphical distribution permits recognition of two separate time intervals. The older one corresponds to the lower Upper Givetian (Middle Devonian), hermanni to cristatus ectypus zones. The younger interval is uppermost Lower Frasnian to lower Middle Frasnian (Upper Devonian) and is equivalent to MN4–MN6 zones. The combination of litho‐ and conodont biofacies supports the distinction between the Sierra Negra and Renanué Subfacies. Conodont biofacies for the studied interval are partially close to the ones from the Compte Subfacies, but lithofacies are clearly different. This faunal similarity fosters accurate correlation between subfacies and stimulates further research aiming at Devonian Pyrenean basin(s) reconstruction. Additionally, this faunal sequence permits direct comparison with regions located in northern Gondwana and in the Russian platform for part of the interval. Comparison with Laurasia, mainly with the Northwest Territories of Canada and the north‐western United States, is also provided. Some taxa are also common with eastern and central Asia (China, Siberia, Tadzhikistan, Afghanistan), Australia and western USA (Nevada).

The Chattanooga Shale of the southern Appalachian Basin contains a diverse conodont fauna of the high Givetian, Frasnian, and Famennian. The predominantly fine-grained strata were deposited in an offshore setting where depositional packages are separated by unconformities. Conodonts allow regional and global correlation of these strata, recognition of the Frasnian-Famennian boundary, and narrow biostratigraphic constraint of two Frasnian ash beds, MN Zone 8 for the Belpre Ash and upper MN Zone 13 for the Center Hill Ash. Three new Frasnian palmatolepid conodonts are described in open nomenclature, and the holotype ofPalmatolepis regularisCooper is reillustrated.
