“…Nonetheless, the 2004 update of the Movement Disorder Society's task force assessing PD treatments and the American Academy of Neurology subcommittee addressing this matter concluded that available evidence of selegiline helping to prevent clinical progression of PD was insufficient. [4][5][6] The MAO-B inhibitory property of selegiline was the initial basis for its consideration in clinical trials of neuroprotection. Unrelated to this effect is evidence in several models of neuronal injury suggesting that the selegiline metabolite desmethylselegiline has additional pharmacological properties similar to those of neurotrophins.…”

“…The discussion in this review focuses on completed clinical studies and their implications for understanding the cause or causes of PD. This topic has been the subject of several reviews in recent years, including evidence-based therapeutics assessments by a subcommittee of the American Academy of Neurology 4 and by a task force of the Movement Disorder Society. 5,6 Symptomatic treatment of PD has obvious endpoints, including those rated by evaluation of disabilities, changes in motor features, onset of dyskinesias or motor fluctuations, and quality of life assessments.…”

“…Increasing number of patients are seeking for alternative treatments such as herbal therapies. 8 Many researchers had discovered the broad therapeutic potential of a mushroom species Ganoderma lucidum (Family: Ganodermataceae). Among the bioactive elements in G. lucidum, polysaccharides, triterpenes, and peptidoglycans are three major physiologically active constituents in G. lucidum.…”

“…16 Circuit class therapy differs from the conventional one therapist to one patient model as there are usually more than two patients involved at any one time. 16 Circuit class therapy has been shown to be effective in improving the mobility of people early after stroke, 16 in chronic stroke patients 17 and in people with a history of falls 18 Circuit class therapy has the potential to be a more effective means of providing a greater amount of physical therapy for people both within the hospital setting and in the community outpatient setting.…”

“…15 In an ambulatory rehabilitation setting, exercise interventions targeting balance are commonly offered by physiotherapists in a group environment. [16][17][18][19] However, a review of the literature finds that there is a recurrent issue with the definition of what constitutes physiotherapy, as there is no uniform treatment approach. 12,20,21 A wide variety of exercise interventions make it difficult to determine which component is providing benefit.…”
