“…Sjoerdsma and Dodge (1954) observed fairly favourable results with methantheline in eight patients with asthma and emphysema, although they gave a very high dosage (50 mg. intravenously). The discrepancy between the clinical and spirographic results of aminophylline is mentioned by Berke et al (1952), while the figures given by Leslie et al (1954) for aminophylline are likewise not so favourable.
