Practical Use of Computer Model STAN 2000 for Improvement and Creation of Regimes for Hot Rolling of Steels on SEVERSTAL Mill 2000

Abstract: An integral computer model STAN 2000 designed for of-line simulation and control of hot rolling on mill 2000 of SEVERSTAL was developed. The capabilities of the model include the following features: ‒ calculations of power parameters for all stands of mill 2000 for a given rolling schedule; ‒ strip temperature calculations depending on selected rolling and accelerated cooling regimes; ‒ follow-up of steel microstructure evolution at all stages of strip production and prediction of ultimate mechanical propertie… Show more

“…The technology of rolling on a continuous rolling mill 2000 (Severstal) (Fig. 1) has a digital twin "Stan 2000" [10,11], which with a sufficiently high accuracy allows calculating the thermal conditions of rolling, power parameters, formation of the austenite structure during rolling, taking into account the proportion of carbonitrides released, as well as changes in the structure during phase transformations, the final parameters of the structure and the mechanical properties of rolled products for a wide range of chemical compositions. Stan 2000 includes 4 reheating furnaces, then a roughing group consisting of 5 stands, 3 of which works as tandem.…”

“…In recent years, in the practice of modern industrial production of hot-rolled steel sheet, quantitative integral mathematical models ("through" models) of hot rolling [1][2][3][4][5][6], capable of predicting the final microstructure of steel and its mechanical properties, find effective use. The use of such models allows you to optimize rolling conditions and chemical compositions of existing steels, as well as develop new steels and their rolling conditions with minimal expenditure of material and time resources, thus providing a significant economic effect.…”
