“…This reaction exhibited obvious advantage compared to the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane with O 2 , which had been demonstrated by many researchers [1][2][3][4]. Up to now, metal oxides [1,5], Cr-MSU-x [6], Cr/SBA-15/Al 2 O 3 /FeCrAl [7], Cr/SiO 2 [3,8], Ga/TiO 2 [9], Co-CaCO 3 [10], Cr/diamond [11], Cr/H-ZSM-5 [4], CaO-CeO 2 [2,12], Fe-Mn/Si-2 [13] and Mo 2 C/SiO 2 [14] have been used as catalysts for the dehydrogenation of ethane with CO 2 as an oxidant. Among these catalysts, Cr-based catalysts showed excellent performances for this reaction.…”

“…The various forms of Mo depend on the loading, support type, and catalyst preparation methods (Sattler et al, 2014). For example, in a Mo 2 C/SiO 2 system, by co-feeding CO 2 for the ODH reaction, the benefits of CO 2 in oxidizing the Mo 2 C forming Mo-oxycarbide at higher temperatures could be observed (Solymosi and Nemeth, 1999;Solymosi et al, 2001). In fact, Dury et al, 2003a) reported that dissociation of CO 2 on the catalyst surface could take place due to introduction of 3% CO 2 for the ODH reaction of propane over NiMoO 4 hence inducing the oxidation of molybdenum suboxide at temperatures around 673-723 K. The presence of both molybdates and molybdenum oxides can enhance the catalytic properties of NiMoO 4 in hydrocarbon oxidation (Lezla et al, 1997;Dury et al, 2003a).…”

“…Souza et al (2001Souza et al ( , 2002) investigated on Pt/Al 2 O 3 and Pt/ZrO 2 catalysts for DRM reaction. They found that Pt/Al 2 O 3 catalyst showed fast deactivation during DRM reaction as a result of high carbon deposition rate.…”

“…The main problem encountered in this reaction is catalyst deactivation due to carbon deposition and thus termination of syngas production. Up to date, Mo 2 C/SiO 2 [17], Cr/H-ZSM-5 [18,19], Cr/TS-1 [20], Cr/SiO 2 [15], Ga/TiO 2 [21], and CeO 2 -based oxides [22] have been used in the dehydrogenation of ethane with CO 2 as an oxidant. Among these catalysts, chromium-based catalysts have proven to be the most active for this reaction.…”
