PP-wave holography for Dp-brane backgrounds

Abstract: As an extension of the so-called BMN conjecture, we investigate the plane-wave limit for possible holographic connection between bulk string theories in non-conformal backgrounds of Dp-branes and the corresponding supersymmetric gauge theories for p < 5.Our work is based on the tunneling picture for dominant null trajectories of strings in the limit of large angular momentum. The tunneling null trajectories start from the near-horizon boundary and return to the boundary, and the resulting backgrounds are time-… Show more

“…For unprotected operators, on the other hand, it is natural to expect that two-point correlation functions are coupled with the Yang-Mills dynamics of mass generation and are given in the form of exponential functions of some dimensionless combination of the coupling constant and the coordinate distances. Indeed, such a behavior [16] has been predicted for operators corresponding to stringy excited states with large angular momentum in the plane-wave limit of the background geometry.…”

“…A lot of progress has been made since, and this is reviewed in [14]- [17]. It should be noted however that at the moment there is no generally accepted theory of the full holographic correspondence, although several proposals have been put forward [18]- [22].…”
