Power transmission of a desk with a cord-free power supply

Abstract: The battery is an indispensable component of portable electronic equipment, but charging is often inconvenient. A contactless electric power supply, such as the desk-type contactless power station (CLPS) we propose, significantly improves the ease of charging such equipment. In this system, primary coils are embedded into the desk surface to efficiently supply electrical power to portable equipment placed on the desk. Only the primary and the secondary coils facing each other work as a power transmitter. We ha… Show more

“…For example, wireless charging has been applied to electric vehicles [4][5][6] and to supply power to embedded medical equipment [7][8][9]. In addition to this, the wireless charging of intelligent electronic devices is also a popular application [10][11][12], one which has developed into an industry in itself. Meanwhile, charging standards have already been formulated for wireless charging.…”

“…As one of its salient advantages, the power can be transmitted to multiple objectives wirelessly and simultaneously [14,15]; problems of cable entanglement, cable corrosion and number of charging ports are eliminated, which greatly improves charging flexibility and reduces system cost. In multi-objective conditions, however, the fairness of power distribution should be taken into account according to various power demands of loads.…”

“…A popular choice in literature to increase the freedom of CET device placement and to allow the charging of several devices simultaneously, is by using multiple primary windings [31]. To increase the platforms efficiency, in some systems the primary coils can be individually activated so that only a few primary windings closest to the load device are turned on [32].…”
