Power transmission lines electromagnetic pollution with consideration of soil resistivity

Abstract: The alternating current (AC) total interference of power lines may pose a threat to personnel and equipment in its vicinity. The main objective of this work is to determine the electromagnetic distribution and induced voltages on human body, equipment, and houses due to the AC total interference for different soil resistivities. The electromagnetic field and induced voltages may cause health problems to the human body and put it at risk. Two main approaches were used to compute the electromagnetic and induced … Show more

“…In the existing electricity regulations in Indonesia, the grounding resistance value is highly demanded to reach a low value below 5 ohms, this is stated in PUIL 2000 and PUIL 2011 (Putra et al 2022). Multiple soil types make it extremely challenging to get a low resistance value (Elgayar et al 2019). The area near the Prabumuli substation has a podzolic soil type with features of yellow clay and gravel, thus it would be quite interesting to perform research on the grounding system utilizing different types of rod electrodes.…”

“…The downward radiation from the minor lobes can produce RF energy that leads to blanketing in FM receivers and expose the environment to excessive RF field around the vicinity of the tower [7][8][9][10][11][12]. Blanketing is a condition when there is excessive RF signal enough to overload the front-end of radio receivers making the demodulaton of the transmitted information difficult.…”
