Power Performance of Bifacial c-Si PV Modules With Different Shading Ratios

Abstract: Unlike conventional photovoltaic (PV) modules that generate power by absorbing light through the front side only, a bifacial PV module can generate power by absorbing light through the rear as well as the front, which would lead to an enhancement of power generation. Particularly, bifacial PV modules would have the advantage of lower power loss in shaded environments than monofacial PV modules, thanks to the light absorbed through the rear side. To predict the power of a bifacial PV module in a shaded environm… Show more

“…Bi-PVM have only recently been put into the market on a large scale, so the research object of PV power prediction technology based on ML is generally single-sided modules. Although scholars have started research work on Bi-PVM [18] [19], there is almost still a blank work on power prediction of PVS with Bi-PVM. There are some softwares that approximate the gain of Bi-PVM, such as Candela PV, however, the disadvantage of these software is that they cannot be dynamically adjusted according to the weather conditions.…”

“…Changes in surrounding environmental conditions, such as shading, are also among the main causes of power drops in PV systems [6]. When a PV system uses a bifacial PV module, the shading conditions of the rear side also need to be considered to avoid undesired power drops [7], [8]. When the global horizontal irradiance (GHI) and the plane of array (POA) irradiance were compared, POA showed a stronger correlation with the output power of the PV module than GHI, as shown in our previous work [9].…”

“…VAWT requires a low-cost investment and less space for installation compared to HAWT [16], [17]. Photovoltaic (PV) module is a semiconductor consisting of a dio [20] de p-n junction when exposed to sunlight, will create 1847 electrical energy that can be utilized, this energy conversion is called the photoelectric effect [5], [21]- [23]. Both renewable energy sources will be stored in lithium batteries [24], [25].…”
