Power packet dispatching with features on safety

Abstract: This paper investigates and proposes one advantageous function of a power packet dispatching system, which has been proposed by authors' group with being apart from the conventional power distribution system. Here is focused on the feature on safety of power packet dispatching which covers two aspects: information safety (protect the information of packet from attackers) and power safety (keep loads safe regarding supplied power from packet). For the purpose of achieving the information safety and the power sa… Show more

“…Finally, we briefly discuss the case e i < v for some i ∈ I. During e i < v, no power is transferred by packet i, because the diode at link i prevents reverse instantaneous power [11]. Therefore, the effect of the diodes should be taken into account by using power density at port i † † instead † In the whole network, the base value of voltage may be different depending on the varieties of power identified by tags and storages [9].…”

“…Recently, widebandgap power semiconductor devices, which have the potential to realize higher frequency switching and higher power capacity than Si power devices, have been developed [6], [7]. The authors' group has developed a power packet dispatching system in physical layer applying these highperformance power semiconductor devices [8]- [11]. In the system, power packets are directly and physically tagged as their voltage waveforms.…”

“…Until now, the security and the safety of power packetization has been discussed [9]. In [9], referring to communication systems, information tags are modulated with the differential chaos shift keying (DCSK) scheme in order to enhance the security of information tags.…”

“…In [9], referring to communication systems, information tags are modulated with the differential chaos shift keying (DCSK) scheme in order to enhance the security of information tags. In addition, they also proposed to modulate a whole packet, namely both the information tag and the power pulse, using the DCSK scheme.…”

“…As an application of the power packet dispatching to independent systems, we have studied the possibility of the motion control by power packets . In the power packet dispatching system, the amount of transferred power can be estimated by the number of packets supplied in a given time period . In other words, the power supply is discretized by an intermittent supply of power pulses.…”
