Power control of variable speed wind turbine based on doubly fed induction generator using indirect field‐oriented control with fuzzy logic controllers for performance optimization

Abstract: The main objective of this study is to improve the energy quality extracted by variable speed wind turbine based on doubly fed induction generator. First, the dynamic modeling of different parts of the system is presented. The electrical machine is modeled in PARK reference frame. Thereafter, the control technique is detailed. Indirect field‐oriented control with fuzzy logic controllers (FLC) is used to control the rotor currents and consequently the real and reactive powers of the stator generator. Then, the … Show more

“…The fuzzy logic structure includes a certain number of actions: the fuzzification of the input quantities that are defined as the error and its derivative, the choice of the appropriate decision according to the inference rules of the fuzzy controller and finally the defuzzification phase of the fuzzy output elements to provide adequate structure of the drive signals. The FLC input variables are selected as the signals that must vary with the outputs change …”

“…1) Stator field oriented technique: In order to separately control the stator active and reactive powers of the wind turbine generator, the stator flux linkage is aligned with the direct axis of PARK reference frame [22,30]. There are other alignment possibilities in the literature such as using the stator voltage vector or rotor flux linkage, but using the stator flux vector still the most commonly used for control of the DFIG applications.…”
