Potentiometric Sensors with Carbon Black Supporting Platinum Nanoparticles

Abstract: For the first time, a single-piece, all-solid-state ion-selective electrode was fabricated with carbon black supporting platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs-CB) and a polymeric membrane. The PtNPs-CB, as an intermediate layer, was drop-casted directly on the solid substrate, and then an ionophore-doped solvent polymeric membrane was added in order to form a sensor. The performance of the newly developed electrodes was evaluated on the basis of potassium and nitrate ions. The stability of the electrical potential for … Show more

“…Importantly, the unbiased selectivity coefficients of NH 4 + -and NO 3 --selective ISEs obtained with the separate solution method closely match those reported for other electrodes based on the solid contact (see Supporting information Table S1 and S2). 6,[58][59][60] This indicates that graphite can be successfully employed as a conductive substrate for the preparation of ISEs without having any significant influence on their potentiometric response characteristics. …”

“…Although electrical parameters of electrodes with TTF or TTF(NO 3 ) have been improved, they are little worse than those obtained for sensors with an intermediate layer made of nanomaterials. 26,36 Table II. Comparison of the potentiometric selectivity coefficients of the proposed and other electrodes described in literature (where SD is standard deviation, n = 5).…”
