The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the way small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) function. To maintain business efficiency and reduce operating costs in the context of the constraints imposed by the pandemic, SMEs have been forced to embrace new digital technologies. Cloud accounting is becoming an increasingly important business operating tool for SMEs. By adopting cloud-based accounting, SMEs can become more efficient, financially organized, and flexible. This study aims to investigate the factors that have a pervasive influence on cloud accounting adoption among SMEs in Thailand, following the pandemic's effects. This study integrates three technology adoption theories—the Technology–Organization–Environment framework, Diffusion of Innovation theory, and Institutional Theory—and studies them alongside SMEs' unique characteristics. The research employs a qualitative case study method and triangulated sources of evidence. The findings provide important implications for the research community, policymakers, cloud accounting vendors, and SME owners aiming to formulate better approaches to cloud accounting adoption after the pandemic. The results suggest that vendors should focus on SMEs' particular characteristics and needs. By contrast, SMEs should determine the organizational fit of the cloud accounting platform and integrate cloud accounting with other aspects of their operations.

Актуальність вивчення впровадження хмарних технологій у бухгалтерському обліку та фінансовому аналізі в Україні зумовлена стрімким розвитком цифрових технологій та їх впливом на сучасний бізнес-ландшафт. Важливість дослідження полягає в окресленні необхідності хмарних рішень, що можуть оптимізувати бухгалтерські процеси та підвищити ефективність фінансового аналізу. Головним завданням дослідженням аналізувати як традиційні методи бухгалтерського обліку трансформуються під впливом хмарних технологій та визначити стратегії адаптації цих нововведень для максимально ефективного використання в місцевих умовах. Дослідження передбачає детальний аналіз потенційних можливостей, викликів та ризиків, що виникають при впровадженні хмарних рішень, та розробку рекомендацій щодо їх ефективного використання та інтеграції з урахуванням специфіки українського бізнесу. Врахування аспектів необхідно для розвитку конкурентоспроможного та інноваційного підходу до бухгалтерського обліку та фінансового аналізу в умовах глобалізації та цифровізації економіки. Мета дослідження полягає у визначенні можливостей та викликів, пов'язаних із застосуванням хмарних технологій в українському обліковому секторі, а також у формулюванні ефективних підходів для інтеграції цих технологій з урахуванням місцевих особливостей. Методологія дослідження включає аналіз літератури, огляд поточних тенденцій у галузі хмарних технологій та їх застосування в бухгалтерському обліку, а також оцінку специфічних викликів та можливостей, що виникають у контексті українського бізнесу. Результати дослідження виявляють, що хмарні технології пропонують значні переваги для бухгалтерського обліку, такі як підвищення ефективності, масштабованість та гнучкість, однак також стикаються з викликами, зокрема щодо безпеки даних та відповідності місцевому регулюванню. Висновки підкреслюють необхідність комплексного підходу до адаптації та інтеграції хмарних рішень, з акцентом на розвиток інформаційної безпеки, обізнаність персоналу та забезпечення відповідності локальним законодавчим вимогам. Рекомендації включають розробку специфічних стратегій для вирішення цих викликів, в тому числі через навчання та розвиток навичок співробітників, вдосконалення політик безпеки даних та забезпечення гнучкості облікових систем для відповідності динамічному бізнес-середовищу.

The study challenges the previous literature and assumes the digital vision as a proxy of intention among Technological, Organizational, and Environmental (TOE) factors and investigates the influence of TOE factors on cloud accounting adoption among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Furthermore, the effect of cloud accounting adoption on the organization's performance as measured by the balanced scorecard was evaluated. The data collection strategy employed an online survey of owners and managers using snowball methodology, in which the survey was automatically introduced to the respondents most likely to find relevant. The data was validated prior to SEM analysis. Seven of eight hypotheses were accepted, including the two hypotheses about the impact of the digital vision on cloud accounting adoption and the hypothesis about the impact of cloud accounting adoption on balanced scorecard-measures organizational performance. Despite the importance of the statistically significant factors in the study model, the digital vision was the most affected by the organizational readiness factor. The findings contribute to the TOE model by challenging the previous literature and assumption of digital vision as a proxy of intention among TOE factors. Future studies should use the TOE framework more caution if the intention is assumed to be a mediating variable.
