The SAVI index minimizes influence of the soil on reflectance, helping to dissociate spectral response of the soil from vegetation in discontinuous covers (Huete 1988;Baret and Guyot 1991;Serra and Pons 2013); in this study it was computed from bands 3 and 4, using a value of 0.5 for the L constant.
