Abstract: Objective. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of PIMs use and its associated factors among older adults with comorbid diabetes and hypertension. Methods. A cross-sectional retrospective study was used, including 1,853 older adults (age ≥65 years) with diabetes and hypertension who visited an ambulatory care setting. The study objectives were to estimate the prevalence and factors associated with PIMs use based on the 2019 American Geriatric Society (AGS) Beers criteria. Results. “…It is clear that elders with comorbid conditions such as diabetes and hyperlipidemia demand a combination of antihypertensive medication. Focus on comorbid of hypertension and diabetes, it has the negative effect of potential inappropriate medication in almost one of two individuals with at least taken seven medications [32]. The rule of comorbid as one of the key factors to achieve blood pressure control may not be eliminated, but there are still many strategies that need to be explored as the effort to control the incidence of unpredictable complications.…”

“…It promotes the emergence of medication-related problems (MRP) [ 10 ]. Potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) are medications whose adverse risk exceed their health benefits when prescribed in older adults [ 11 ]. They are associated with adverse clinical outcomes such as falls and risk of frailty in the elderly and can lead to higher utilization of healthcare resources and hospital admissions [ 12 ].…”
