Potential Treatment of Inflammatory and Proliferative Diseases by Ultra-Low Doses of Ionizing Radiations

Abstract: ᮀ Ultra-low doses and dose-rates of ionizing radiation are effective in preventing disease which suggests that they also may be effective in treating disease. Limited experimental and anecdotal evidence indicates that low radiation doses from radon in mines and spas, thorium-bearing monazite sands and enhanced radioactive uranium ore obtained from a natural geological reactor may be useful in treating many inflammatory conditions and proliferative disorders, including cancer. Optimal therapeutic applications w… Show more

“…Smatra se da radon aktiviše sistem hipotalamus-hipofiza-nadbubreg, te se povećano luče glikokortikoidi, ispoljavajući svoja brojna dejstva na organizam. Radonske vode ispoljavaju najjači analgetski efekat od svih termomineralnih voda [1,5,[15][16][17][18][19].…”

“…For combined exposure to low-and high-LET radiation as occurs for radon in the environment and home and for mixed neutron and γ-ray fields, harm from the high-LET component of the radiation dose appears to be prevented by low-LET-radiation ANP (Rithidech and Scott 2008;Sanders and Scott 2008;Scott et al 2009;Sanders 2010). Further, low-LET radiation ANP in animal models has delayed the occurrence of spontaneous cancer (Mitchel et al 2003), prevented chemical-carcinogeninduced cancer (Sakai et al 2003;Bruce et al 2012), prevented cancer metastasis (Hashimoto et al 1999;Nowosielska et al 2006), and extended the lifespan of diseased animals (Sakai 2006;Lacoste-Collin et al 2007).…”
