“…NDF has been characterized as the most important factor affecting the total diet organic matter digestibility (Britos et al, 2018). The lower ADF indicated the higher digestibility (Nazli et al, 2019). In our study, NDF and ADF content under different treatments decreased significantly with the increasing fermentation days (P < 0.05), which could be explained by the produced organic acids hydrolyzing the more digestible cell wall fraction during ensiling (Larsen et al, 2017).…”

“…Animal feed plays a pivotal role in ensuring the healthy growth of domesticated livestock in husbandry, which takes almost 70% of the animal rearing cost. The increasing cost of animal feed importation in Malaysia has caused farmers to downsize their local livestock farming, leading to insufficient local beef production 1 . Self-sufficiency of beef in Malaysia is only 23.7% in 2020 2 .…”

“…The lowest ear percentage was at the first harvest when the grain was not yet developed. The higher ear share provides better nutritional value of maize forage because the grain contains a higher amount of crude protein and soluble carbohydrates and lower fibre content compared to stem and leaves (Nazli et al, 2019). The delay harvest time provides an opportunity to accumulate higher amounts of dry matter, and decreases NDF and ADF due to dilution effect of the increasing amounts of starch (Cone et al, 2008).…”
