“…The increasing pH could be stabilised in the later stage because of the ammonium oxidation by nitrifying bacteria and calcium carbonate precipitation 33. On the other hand, a decrease of pH in the final vermicompost was recorded in treatments with higher proportion of soybean husk, namely 1P:2S and S. The decrease in pH could be attributed to the production of CO 2 , ammonia, NO 3 − and organic acid by microbial decomposition during vermicomposting process, which lowered the pH of substrate 5, 7, 34.
