Coffee is one of the favorite drinks in the world today, with a consumption of 75% of the total consumption of soft drinks worldwide. Coffee consumption is believed to have an impact on health and muscle strength. Muscle strength itself is a component of fitness that has many aspects and is related to performances, which is supported by muscle, nerves, and mechanics factors. This study reviews the literature on the topic of the effect of coffee on muscle strength in order to determine the effects of coffee on muscle strength. This research is a literature review. Data searching was performed using 1 database, namely PubMed, using the keyword coffee AND muscle strength. The final result is (n=13). This study shows that coffee has a significant effect in increasing muscle strength. In conclusion, coffee has a significant effect on muscle strength.Keywords: coffee, muscle strength Abstrak: Kopi merupakan salah satu minuman terfavorit di dunia saat ini, dengan jumlah konsumsi 75% dari angka keseluruhan konsumsi minuman ringan di seluruh dunia. Konsumsi kopi sendiri dipercaya memiliki pengaruh terhadap kesehatan tubuh dan kekuatan otot. Kekuatan otot merupakan komponen kebugaran yang memiliki banyak aspek dan terkait dengan kinerja yang didukung oleh faktor otot, saraf, dan mekanis. Penelitian ini mengulas literatur dengan topik terkait pengaruh kopi terhadap kekuatan otot untuk mengetahui pengaruh kopi terhadap kekuatan otot. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian yang sifatnya literature review. Pencarian data menggunakan 1 database yaitu PubMed menggunakan kata kunci coffee AND muscle strength. Didapatkan hasil akhir (n=13). Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kopi memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan dalam meningkatkan kekuatan otot. Sebagai simpulan, kopi memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kekuatan otot.Kata kunci: kopi, kekuatan otot

Osteoarthritis (OA), the most common chronic rheumatic disease, is mainly characterized by a progressive degradation of the hyaline articular cartilage, which is essential for correct joint function, lubrication, and resistance. Articular cartilage disturbances lead to joint failure, pain, and disability. Hyaline cartilage is also present in the growth plate and plays a key role in longitudinal bone growth. Alterations of this cartilage by diverse pathologies have been related to longitudinal bone growth inhibition (LBGI), which leads to growth retardation. Diet can play a crucial role in processes involved in the OA and LBGI’s onset and evolution. Specifically, there is ample evidence pointing to the negative impacts of caffeine consumption on hyaline cartilage. However, its effects on these tissues have not been reviewed. Accordingly, in this review, we summarize all current knowledge in the PubMed database about caffeine catabolic effects on articular and growth plate cartilage. Specifically, we focus on the correlation between OA and LBGI with caffeine prenatal or direct exposure. Overall, there is ample evidence indicating that caffeine intake negatively affects the physiology of both articular and growth plate cartilage, increasing consumers predisposition to suffer OA and LBGI. As a result, caffeine consumption should be avoided for these pathologies.

Salmonellosis that attacks poultry, caused by Salmonella enteritidis is a cause of food borne disease in zoonotic humans. Treatment of this disease uses antibiotics but if used irrationally it can result in the emergence of multi-drug resistant bacteria. At present many treatments use herbs which are considered to reduce the negative effects of antibiotics and are environmentally friendly, one of which is coffee. Green coffee is considered to have many active ingredients such as chlorogenic acid (CGA), alkaloids, tannin, polyphenols and polysaccharides which are useful as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and enhances the body's immune system. The study used 60 heads ISA Brown day-old chicks (layer strain) chickens artificially infected with S. enteritidis bacteria with concentration of 10 8 CFU/ml, consisting of negative controls (healthy chickens, without coffee, positive control (chickens were given), T1, T2 and T3 was given different doses of coffee extract with 500 mg/kg BW, 1000 mg/kg BW and 1500 mg kg BW, respectively. The treatments with coffee extracts were given on days 3-15, then infected with 0.5 ml bacteria on day 16 and 60 chickens were necropsied at day 18 for histopathology. Data on relative levels of CD8 Tc cells were calculated using the flowcytometer test and analyzed quantitatively using the One Way ANOVA with a confidence level of 95% while the jejunum histopathology was observed using a microscopy and analyzed descriptively. Results showed that Robusta coffee extract from Lampung can act as an antibacterial by increasing CD8 + T cells and repairing jejunum histopathology.
