Potential anticancer activities ofRhus coriaria(sumac) extract against human cancer cell lines

Abstract: Therapeutic strategies of plant origin are a better choice as both dietary plant products or its isolated active constituents against the development and progression of cancer. The present study aims to evaluate the anticancer activity of sumac (Rhus coriaria) against different human cancer MCF-7, PC-3, and SKOV3 cell lines. In addition, the study tries to explore a prospective mechanism of action, assessment of in vitro enzyme-inhibitory capacity of sumac extract against hCA I, II, IX, and XII. In the present… Show more

“…In the study conducted by Gezici in 2019 it was found that sumac extracts inhibited the growth of lung cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner and stated that sumac fruits may have an important potential as an anti-lung cancer agent (Gezici, 2019). In another study, it was shown that sumac at 50 and 100 µM doses significantly inhibited the growth, proliferation, and viability of cancer cells (Gabr and Alghadir, 2021).…”

“…2 showed an XRD pattern that illustrated the main characteristic peaks of copper at 2 thetas 43. IC 50 of 217 µg mLG 1 , whereas Sum+Cu has IC 50 of 354 µg mLG 1 . This indicated a clear-concentration response relationship and a higher anticancer activity of Tur+Cu more than Sum+Cu.…”
