The development of ecotourism in Goa Rangko, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, has increased waste generation, resulting in environmental degradation and negative impacts on the tourism industry. To address this issue and achieve sustainable tourism, this study aims to investigate the current waste management system in Goa Rangko and propose an optimized solution. The research was conducted through direct field observations and the collection of secondary data from literature and government documents. Waste characterization studies were undertaken to determine waste generation and composition. Based on the findings, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) was recommended for waste management. The MRF would encompass a source-to-final processing system, ensuring efficient waste handling. Any residue from the process would be appropriately disposed of in the landfill. In addition to the MRF, the study proposes the involvement of the local community, along with education and awareness-raising programs. These initiatives aim to foster a sense of responsibility among the residents and tourists in managing waste sustainably. Moreover, the study suggests implementing an ecotourism certification program to support sustainable tourism development in Goa Rangko.

Kota Yogyakarta merupakan salah satu daerah yang memiliki banyak bank sampah, tercatat ada 565 bank sampah di Dinas Lingkungan Hidup Kota Yogyakarta. Peran bank sampah dalam mengelola sampah khususnya di lingkup rumah tangga cukup penting, selain mengajak masyarakat untuk menerapkan prinsip 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) dengan tujuan mengurangi timbulan sampah, bank sampah juga dapat memberikan manfaat ekonomi bagi masyarakat sekitar dan anggota internalnya. Paguyuban Bank Sampah Sorososutan sebagai salah satu bank sampah di Kota Yogyakarta yang aktif mengelola sampah, terbukti dengan pembuatan produk daur ulang yang bermanfaat dengan menggunakan bahan limbah sachet, produk daur ulang ini telah dijual sejak tahun 2020. Penelitian ini mengkaji potensi ekonomi yang dihasilkan bank sampah dari kegiatan daur ulang sampah sachet dengan menggunakan metode BCR, NP,V dan IRR. Berdasarkan metode yang digunakan, nilai BCR sebesar 0,46, NPV sebesar Rp 4.501.722 dan IRR sebesar 9,6% hal ini berarti kegiatan daur ulang yang dilakukan oleh bank sampah memberikan manfaat ekonomi.

Waste in Indonesia, especially in Magelang City, has become a serious problem due to rapid population growth. Waste management issues, including landfills and collection, need effective handling. Data mining methods, such as K-Means clustering, can help identify areas with the highest levels of waste generation. This approach provides insights for the development of a more focused and efficient waste management strategy, a significant contribution to the improvement of Magelang City. By identifying the areas with the highest waste generation, waste management measures can be directed more efficiently and effectively. This includes increasing the transparency, capacity, and role of waste banks, as well as other efforts to reduce the negative impact of waste on the environment and human health. After clustering, the waste in Magelang City was grouped into 3 clusters according to the supplier area and the volume of waste. Then after the evaluation stage with the silhouette score displays a value of 0.79 which is a good value because it is close to the value of 1.0. With this method, it is expected that the city government in handling waste in Magelang city can be done optimally, efficiently, and on target
