“…Therefore, we interpret the oldest metamorphic age (~49.6 Ma) in 15G44‐3 as recording the initial exhumation of HP metapelitic granulites in the ALS metamorphic complex. This date coincides with the timing of emplacement of alkali granitic intrusions in an extensional setting (B. Chen et al, ; Flower et al, ; Lu et al, ).…”

“…The ASRRB was also affected by an Eocene to early Oligocene (~43 to 30 Ma) high‐potassium alkaline magmatic activity, revealed from previous studies (Chung et al, ; Liang et al, ). Occurrence of syenitic, lamprophyre, trachytic rocks, and granitic rocks in the Ailao Shan massif and contiguous areas provides arguments for intensive crust/mantle interaction (Flower et al, ; J. H. Wang et al, ) at a postcollision extensional setting (Chung et al, ). Although such rocks have not been reported in the Yao Shan complex, our results show that early granitic rocks experienced a late metamorphic event that gives an age of 37.65 ± 0.65 Ma.…”

“…They are mostly strike-slip faults (Flower et al, 2013;Chen et al, 2014), occurring on the basement of the Indochina and South China blocks, and the Ailaoshan Suture lies between the two blocks. “…In the western SCS, the NW-trending Red River Fault occurs in the northwest, the S-N-trending Eastern Vietnam Fault in the middle, and the Lupar and Tinjar faults in the southeast of the region. They are mostly strike-slip faults (Flower et al, 2013;Chen et al, 2014), occurring on the basement of the Indochina and South China blocks, and the Ailaoshan Suture lies between the two blocks. The latter extends to the north as a western marginal fault zone.…”
