Postural Evaluation in Sports and Sedentary Subjects by Rasterstereographic Back Shape Analysis

Abstract: Posture is defined as the position of the body in space, the aim of which is to maintain balance, both in static and dynamic conditions. Our purpose was to study various postural variables involved in postural adaptations of athletes practicing symmetric and asymmetric sports at professional level. Methods: Patients include sedentary subjects, competitive athletes practicing symmetrical and asymmetrical sports. Postural evaluation of the three different groups was performed using the rasterstereographic-system… Show more

“…Moreover, it should be noted how calcium, vitamin D, and amino acids supplementation should be considered in a multidisciplinary integrated intervention combined with lifestyle education to prevent or to counteract the developing of osteosarcopenia [ 3 , 49 , 50 , 51 , 52 ]. Almost 70% of the PRM physicians involved prescribed therapeutic exercise in their clinical practice; these findings are in line with the available literature suggesting its beneficial effects of exercise in terms of pain, posture, physical performance, and HRQoL [ 53 , 54 , 55 , 56 , 57 ]. In this scenario, a recent Cochrane Systematic Review performed by Gibbs et al [ 58 ] supported exercise therapy as an effective intervention in functional outcomes improvement in patients suffering from osteoporotic vertebral fractures with moderate evidence.…”

“…The scientific principle refers to the construction of public sports training quality evaluation system to select the most characteristic and representative influence factors, select the most widely used index and the best response system on the basis of scientific research, optimize it to the simplest and best, and form the most scientific index system [ 12 ].…”

“…This often contributes to the overuse of certain anatomical structures, causing long-term effects. In addition, as the age increases, usually the body weight of young athletes increases too, due to the physiological individual growth, resulting in higher loads on joints, already stressed by overuse [3,27,31,32]. Lastly, older gymnasts are more susceptible to MP or injury than younger ones, because of a prolonged time of exposure to risk [33].…”

“…Gymnastic elements that must be assimilated and acquired by gymnasts necessarily require the development of coordination, joint mobility, postural adaptation, strength, speed, rhythm, agility, and dynamism. In rhythmic gymnastics, a refined quality of motor control, excellent expression skills, and elegance of the technical gesture are quite important [2][3][4][5].…”
