In such populations, parents suffering from post-traumatic stress symptomology demonstrated poor parental mental health outcomes, decreased quality of life, strains in the parental role, and greater utilization of pediatric health services (Cook et al, 2018;Ernst et al, 2018;Helfricht et al, 2008;Landolt et al, 2003;Parfitt & Ayers, 2009;Raphael et al, 2010;Thompson et al, 2017). Therefore, it is critically important to recognize the factors that play a role in the parental post-traumatic stress in this population, especially in mothers, who appear to be more at-risk for adverse mental health outcomes in the critical infancy period.…”
