“…However, studies investigating the analgesic effect of combined pethidine/paracetamol and parecoxib/ paracetamol have not been published so far in patients undergoing thyroidectomy. Studies comparing the analgesic efficacy of paracetamol monotherapy vs. paracetamol combinations with either pethidine or parecoxib in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy and open inguinal hernia repair have found the same results as our study [29,30]. One limitation of this study that should be considered is that we did not record data during mobilization, because pain scores were recorded only at rest.…”

“…Another strategy that was investigated by Mulita et al studied the use of intravenous (IV) acetaminophen with intramuscular (IM) pethidine, acetaminophen with IV parecoxib, and acetaminophen monotherapy. It was shown that combinations of IV acetaminophen with either IM pethidine or IV parecoxib were superior to IV acetaminophen monotherapy in patients undergoing open inguinal hernia repair and laparoscopic cholecystectomy [ 13 , 14 ]. This drug regimen provides another potentially efficacious modality to treat post-operative pain.…”

“…Also, one of the major patient concerns undergoing inguinal hernia repair is postoperative pain and the need to return to work and daily activity as soon as possible [ 17 ]. The goal of postoperative pain management is to reduce or eliminate pain and discomfort with the least side effects and minimal cost.…”
