Postoperative analgesia in dental day case surgery

Abstract: Forumknown to reduce upper airway reflexes [1&13]. It is not known whether the synergism noted for induction end-point is repeated for upper airway reflexes. Whilst our results may suggest such an interaction, further studies investigating the effect on airway reflexes are required.In conclusion, midazolam, when combined with alfentanil, significantly reduces the dose of propofol required for induction and improves the conditions for LMA insertion.
