This research paper evaluates the effects of wind tunnel testing on low-rise buildings using a Finite Element-based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model in order to compare the results of the traditional Directional Procedure (Building of All Heights Method) to the results of the CFD analysis. This study utilized all necessary parameters for the Wind Tunnel Procedure in accordance with the National Structural Code of the Philippines section 207F together with the guidelines prescribed in ASCE 7-16. The mathematical prototype of 3 different buildings with the same dimensions were created using midas NFX, and the necessary boundary conditions for CFD analysis were set up. The pressure caused by wind load on these buildings were evaluated and compared with the Directional procedure in Section 207B of the NSCP (Buildings of all heights method). Atmospheric turbulence was also modelled using Kinetic Energy and Length Scale method utilizing 2-equation k-ε turbulence model. The results show significant differences in pressure effects on walls with considerable number of openings and unique façade features. CFD results also show accurate internal pressure and velocity profile in areas near the wall openings and building edges. This research is particularly relevant for the design and construction of buildings in areas prone to strong winds, such as the Philippines, where accurate wind load calculations are crucial to ensuring structural safety and integrity. While numerous studies in other countries have explored the impact of wind on low-rise structures through mathematical simulations, there remains a substantial gap in the Philippines regarding research concerning wind tunnel effects on structures using mathematical and numerical approaches. This study aims to fill this gap by connecting the existing National Structural Code of the Philippines with contemporary trends in mathematical simulations.

The increasingly effective managing of risks in construction projects requires the stakeholders to collaborate, resulting in the need to integrate the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to mitigate the risks in project collaboration. Our understanding of strategic planning of BIM adoption amidst a pandemic is still limited, and it is widely accepted that COVID-19 is a long-term pandemic that require a constant and innovative range of mitigation approaches to protect public health. The significant construction advances emphasize remote work and digital tools that assist in the project’s on-time completion. A fully digitalized approach is necessary for service continuity and rapid processing, particularly during a pandemic. Therefore, this study develops an adaptive digital collaboration framework based on Cloud-Based BIM technology to reduce risks while increasing workplace productivity and mobility. It resulted in a new way of managing the project information, enhancing the design team collaboration, and transforming 2D plans into 3D models. It integrates information to take a building through a virtual construction process long before it is completed, and each team member has access to the most up-to-date and current project information.

The COVID-19 pandemic was one of the unforeseeable risks in the construction industry. The supply chain (SC) trend globally and locally was disrupted by the sudden pandemic that forced people to limit the movement to minimize the further infection of the virus. Joint risk management (JRM) is a strategy that encourages and enhances collaboration in construction. Furthermore, with the complexity of the industry, joint risk management is an alternative tool for managing unforeseeable risks in construction. The objective of this research is to identify the impact, problems, and solutions companies have encountered in the construction industry supply chain amid the pandemic in CALABARZON. Moreover, developed a strategy using joint risk management. The data for the case study was collected through interviews. The study results show that some companies are not significantly affected by the pandemic in terms of projects. However, construction companies face delays and lack in supply, problems in mobility, an increase in raw and construction material, and problems with human resources. The construction adapted to the situation and strategized through effective planning, scheduling, time management, and good communication with each project stakeholder. Lastly, a joint risk management strategy was developed to encourage collaboration with each construction project stakeholder.
