Possibility of realizing fullerene-oxygen-iodine laser with solar pumping (sun-light FOIL)

Abstract: We consider the possibility to design the thhlerene-oxygen-iodine laser with optical pumping (solar, particularly) [1]. It is assumed that singlet oxygen is formed at pass ofmolecular oxygen through (and interaction with) mixture oflower and higher fullerenes in the triplet metastable state obtained at illumination of fullerenes. The presented results of estimates by a photokinetic model show the opportunity to reach the efficiency of the FOIL with solar pumping at the level of several tens of percents. We pre… Show more

“…Now a few words concerning the object of studies, on which was realized interaction of photons, fullerenes (or FLNP) and oxygen. First of all, similarly to [1], we have continued studying of the singlet oxygen generation in liquid media and, in particular, in solutions. We have also started investigation of suspensions.…”

“…In the latter case the energy of radiation could have been much higher than that of laser radiation, and its energy and power was varied in the wide range. Xe-lamp radiation was used either without additional spectral modification or with attenuation by special set of colored filters, making its spectrum close to that of sunlight (see In the experiment was registered the radiation of singlet oxygen luminescence at the wavelength 1 .268 tm (state AO) and 0.762 m (state O) Similarly to [1], all measurements were done in the absolute scale, providing thus the possibility to carry out the detailed comparison of experimental results with results of numerical simulation of photochemical kinetics, taking into account the influence of various quenchers onto the lifetime of triplet states of fullerenes and FLNP and of the singlet oxygen. Before the experiment, all measurement apparatus was tested and calibrated.…”
