POSIX standards for fault management in a real-time environment

Abstract

This paper describes the Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX) standards, specGCally the Application Programming Interface (API) Standards for Fault Management for use in a Real-Time Environment. This work is being pe~ormed by the Services for Reliable, Available, and Serviceable Systems (SRASS) Working Group (WG). This work is a (POSIX) standards efsort in the PI 003.1 System Services group project PI003.Ih.This standard is intended to be used to provide fault management and serviceability application programs a common C language binding inte @ace to operating system services. This standard is being developed using common and or existing practices within industry and academia to provide a useful set of fault management and serviceability APIs to benefit all. The working group is comprised of a balanced participation of users, vendors, and those with a general interest. All APIs are developed by using the consensus process and this work is intended to receive a through review in an open ballot process to insure that implementations can be built to conform to the standard.
