Positron annihilation studies of HPT deformed aluminium alloys

Abstract: Positron lifetime and 2‐dimensional Doppler broadening measurements were used to study the influence of high pressure torsion (HPT) on the precipitation in Al‐Cu‐Mg alloys. The combination of the two experimental methods enables a specific and chemical sensitive distinction between interfacial vacancy‐type defects associated with precipitates and the vacancy‐type lattice defects formed upon high pressure torsion. Different aging behaviour is observed for undeformed and HPT‐deformed samples. In the Sm‐doped alu… Show more

“…In Ref. [29], positron annihilation was conducted to solution treated and aged and HPT deformed AA2017. Long lifetime 2 is determined to be ∼ 225 ps for the solution treated and aged sample and ∼ 240 ps for the HPT deformed sample.…”
