Positive parity pentaquark towers in largeNcQCD

Abstract: We construct the complete set of positive parity pentaquarks, which correspond in the quark model tosq Nc+1 states with one unit of orbital angular momentum L = 1. In the large N c limit they fall into the K = 1/2 and K = 3/2 irreps (towers) of the contracted SU (4) c symmetry. We derive predictions for the mass spectrum and the axial couplings of these states at leading order in 1/N c . The strong decay width of the lowest-lying positive parity exotic state is of order O(1/N c ), such that this state is narro… Show more

We find that the criticism of Matagne and Stancu [11,12] of the usual 1/N c expansion for excited baryons [4,5,6,7,8,9,10] is unfounded, and the disagreement with existing work is due to ignoring operators transforming like nonsinglets under S sf N . “…The 1/N c expansion has been applied also to orbitally excited baryons, up to subleading order in 1/N c [4,5,6,7,8,9,10]. The structure of the operators contributing to the physical properties of these states is more complicated.…”

We find that the criticism of Matagne and Stancu [11,12] of the usual 1/N c expansion for excited baryons [4,5,6,7,8,9,10] is unfounded, and the disagreement with existing work is due to ignoring operators transforming like nonsinglets under S sf N . As an application of our results, we point out that the models for quark dynamics discussed here make definite predictions for the phenomenology of the excited baryons, in the form of a hierarchy of the coefficients of operators in the 1/N c expansion.…”

“…and Takagi [10] have proposed the higher energy states and decay width of pentaquark with the use of WKB approximation in the context of flux tube model whereas Pirjal and Schat [11] have constructed a complete set of positive parity pentaquark considering it's higher states. Bijker et al [12] have investigated the mass spectroscopy of the exotic pentaquark in the algebraic string like model.…”
