Le présent article porte sur les compétences informationnelles au sein du système d’éducation du Québec, tant pour les élèves que pour les enseignants. Les auteurs y proposent une revue des études empiriques sur le niveau des compétences informationnelles des futurs maîtres du Québec avant d’introduire la méthodologie et les résultats d’une enquête portant, d’une part, sur les habitudes de recherche d’information et, d’autre part, sur le sentiment d’autoefficacité de futurs enseignants quant à leurs compétences informationnelles. L’analyse des obstacles au développement de ces compétences vient clore ce texte.This article is about the computer skills of both students and teachers in Québec’s education system. To introduce the methodology, it begins with a review of empirical studies on the computer skills of future teachers in Québec. The results of a survey on information search habits and the future teachers’ sense of self-efficacy in relation to their computer skills is then presented. The article concludes with an analysis of obstacles to developing these skills.El presente artículo aborda las competencias informáticas en el seno del sistema de educación de Quebec, tanto entre los alumnos como entre los maestros. Se inicia con la presentación de un examen de los estudios empíricos sobre el nivel de las competencias informáticas de los futuros maestros de Quebec con el fin de introducir la metodología y los resultados de una investigación sobre las capacidades de búsqueda de información, por una parte, y por otra, sobre el sentimiento de auto-eficacia de los futuros maestros en lo que concierne a sus competencias informáticas. El texto se termina con el análisis de los obstáculos que confronta el desarrollo de dichas competencias

The development and spread of technology in schools as an educational innovation is well-documented worldwide, but the more recent and unique development of science instruction based on information and communication technology (ICT) has not been empirically examined in the Arabian Gulf, specifically. Using 2007 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) data, lower secondary science teachers' ICT professional development and use is investigated in this chapter to provide empirical evidence of a relationship between teachers' use of ICT for instruction, the spread of ICT resources in educational systems across the GCC, and the impact of these teacher and school-level characteristics on student achievement. Evidence from TIMSS 2007 suggests that teachers' use of ICT for instruction and engagement in ICT-related professional development in GCC educational systems is similar to the international mean, but having increased access to ICT in classroom instruction does not necessarily improve student achievement in science.
