Positioning Accuracy of the Zhurong Mars Rover's Hand–Eye System

Abstract: The hand-eye system is an important component of the Zhurong rover, which is crucial for positioning, terrain reconstruction, stereo vision measurement and mission planning functions. The hand-eye system consists of a navigation camera and mast mechanism, and its positioning accuracy has an important effect on the teleoperation mission of the Zhurong rover. A positioning method that combines close-range photogrammetry and robot kinematics is proposed. It includes geometric calibration, stereo vision measuremen… Show more

“…Based on the automatic matching of pixels, the third step is followed subsequently. According to the stereo vision 3D reconstruction method (Zhang et al, 2017;Zhang et al, 2020;Zhang et al, 2022), the 3D coordinates (X, Y, and Z) in the CamB coordinate system of each pixel with the corresponding root mean square error are calculated. To ensure the accuracy of the calculation, the pixel coordinates whose root mean square errors are larger than 1.0 mm were deleted and replaced based on the interpolation method.…”

“…W ith the rapid development of aerospace engineering, monitoring the dynamic parameters of aerospace models with high accuracy in ground verification testing has become a frontier research topic (Rems et al., 2021; Zhang et al., 2022). Traditional contact sensors, such as displacement meters, accelerometers and strain gauges, are an effective means of measurement.…”
