Position Paper: Towards a Minimalistic Modeling Paradigm

Abstract: Abstract-Model-Driven Software Engineering (MDSE) has put a great emphasis on modeling to deal with the rapidly growing complexity of software systems. This leads to that models become more complex and detailed as they evolve. In contrast to the vision that such models are able to deal with this complexity, there are several cases in which simple models better support the requirements. In this paper, three technology trends are presented. The success of these trends lays in using lightweight models. Of course,… Show more

“…The user will not perceive if the model is well engineered from a modeling perspective but will judge the software by considering its robustness and usability. This approach is consistent with the Agile principles [7]. By designing the model starting from the grammar or the generated code, it is easier to develop the tree parser [11] or the code generator, respectively.…”

“…It is intentionally a minimalistic modeling tool for Android applications, it only solves some specific issues that are encountered during the development of Android applications. The authors of this paper expressed their position on that modeling is more efficient when it is used in this manner [7]. In [8] an intent catalog is presented.…”
