Abstract:BackgroundCutis calcinosis, defined as sub-epidermal deposition of calcium salts, is a painful, disabling, disfiguring, problem in 20-40% of patients with systemic sclerosis. Its pathogenesis remains poorly understood and currently there is no effective disease-modifying pharmacotherapy.
