Porous ionic liquid polymer: A reusable adsorbent with broad operating pH range for speciation of nitrate and nitrite

Abstract: Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of fluids with unique physicochemical properties employing polymeric substances emerging new materials. Solidification of ILs into porous materials generates porous ionic liquid polymers that combine the unique characteristics of ILs with common porous materials and polymers. In this study, it’s the first time the porous ionic liquid polymer was chosen as a sorbent for extraction and speciation of nitrite and nitrate. Porous IL was prepared through polymerization of 1-allyl-3-me… Show more

“…Under optimal conditions, a maximum adsorption capacity (233 mg g −1 ) was achieved by the porous PIL. 154 Taking advantage of immersion grinding and in situ polymerization techniques, Huang et al prepared carboxyl-functionalized imidazolium-based PIL inside MIL-101 (P[C 4 (VIM) 2 ] Cl 2 @MIL-101). The resultant P[C 4 (VIM) 2 ]Cl 2 @MIL-101 showed excellent adsorption performance toward ReO 4 − (Fig.…”

“…ILs enjoy excellent selectivity and adsorption capacity due to the presence of some interactions (π-π stacking, ion exchange, and electrostatic interactions). 44,45 Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) functionalized with allyl triphenyl phosphonium bromide (ATPPB) could be used as an adsorbent for Hg 2+ removal. 46 In the present study, natural and cheap SP powder has been used as a support and activated with hydrochloric acid.…”
