“…Two randomized Phase III trials compared pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (PLD) with conventional combination chemotherapy, ABV in one study and BV (bleomycin vincristine) in the other, as first-line therapy for KS in patients not on HAART. Both found response rates were higher in the PLD arms but responses were often not sustained [92,93] (see Table 3.3 for details). The three Phase III studies may not be directly comparable.…”

“…The identification of patients at risk of CNS relapse remains inconclusive [23]; however, data from immunocompetent individuals suggest that advanced stage, elevated serum LDH and extranodal disease [87] and involvement of specific anatomical sites such as: testes [88,89], paranasal sinuses [90], paraspinal disease, breast [91], renal [84], epidural space [92] and bone [93,94], predict a higher likelihood of CNS relapse.…”

“…2,3,11,13,14,16 In addition to organ transplantation, porokeratosis has been observed in various other types of immunosuppression, including that following immunosuppressive chemotherapy, electron beam radiation, 16,17 and systemic corticosteroids, 18 as well as in the setting of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection 19 and hematopoietic malignancies. 2,3,11,13,14,16 In addition to organ transplantation, porokeratosis has been observed in various other types of immunosuppression, including that following immunosuppressive chemotherapy, electron beam radiation, 16,17 and systemic corticosteroids, 18 as well as in the setting of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection 19 and hematopoietic malignancies.…”

“…The association of the skin lesions with SLE in our case is interesting. Porokeratosis of Mibelli and disseminated superficial porokeratosis have been reported in some immunosuppressive states such as organ transplantation, 8 leukaemia with chemotherapy 9 and HIV infection, 10 and also in some autoimmune diseases during treatment with systemic steroids 11 . However, there has been no report describing the association of PPK or punctate porokeratosis with any of the aforementioned conditions, except in two patients with PPK who developed bronchial carcinoma 5,12 .…”
