Abstract: During the sunltner of 1921 the writer of this article was studying the Plankton of Lake Nipigon, Ont., and collecting insects during his spare time. While searching for insects in the bush many opportunities were presented for observing the habits of wild life under natural conditions. Not the least interesting of these observations were those concerning the Black Bear (Ursus nwzmicanus) .
