Abstract:Surface modification of biomaterials and medical devices by polysaccharides is presently a topic of great interest, both at fundamental and applied levels. Plant polysaccharides constitute an untapped resource in this regard. The very self‐assembly properties of the polymers that the plant cell exploits during cell wall biogenesis may be exploited in assembly of contiguous coatings of medical devices and implants. Cell wall polysaccharides not only display advantageous physical properties but some are also kno… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
