Polypropylene nanocomposite for power equipment: a review

Abstract: Polypropylene (PP), with high breakdown strength, low dissipation and good processibility, is one of the most widely used dielectric material for power equipment, especially in power capacitors and power cables. The improvement of PP-based dielectric material can benefit the properties enhancement of power capacitors and cables, and thus to meet with the rapid development of the power system. Nanocomposite provided a promising orientation to reach the target and recent research approaches of PP nanocomposite f… Show more

“…The theoretical maximum specific energy that can be imparted per cycle has been predicted to be 1300‐1700 J/kg for NR and acrylic elastomers 10,36,60‐174 that match up with high possible stain. However it is not generally accepted to maximize the stability of the film 10, 78–175 …”

“…Dielectric capacitors with high electric energy density have been developed and investigated for a number of modern flexible electronic devices and large-scale electrical power grid systems. With advance in miniaturization of these devices and systems, it is highly desirable to improve the electric energy density of the dielectric materials. The electric energy density ( U e ) of the material can be obtained using U e = 0.5ε 0 ε r E b 2 , where ε r is dielectric constant, that is, electric field independent, and E b is the breakdown strength. ,, Recent years have witnessed extensive efforts to address this issue through improving these two key performance parameters to enhance the electric energy density of capacitors.…”

“…Thus, it has been utilized in a broad range of applications, like medical components, reusable water bottles, luggage, outdoor furniture, plastic containers, and car parts. Since polypropylene can enable the synthesis of electrospun nanofibers bearing REA, it may be regarded as a good supporting material (Cheng et al, 2018; Nguyen et al, 2021; Norrrahim et al, 2021).…”
