Abstract: Cancer is one of the major causes of death worldwide, including developing and underdeveloped nations. Mortality and morbidity data suggest that incidences are higher than those of the cardiovascular diseases. High cost and occurrence of numerous side and adverse effects associated with conventional anticancer regimes has necessitated shifting the focus towards the practice of traditional alternative and complementary medicine. Emerging evidence on the beneficial link of dietary components with lower cancer oc… Show more

“…Moreover, these metabolites occur widely in foodstuffs such as tea, strawberries, blackberries, grapes, mangoes, cashew nuts, hazelnuts, and walnuts and can precipitate proteins, minerals, starch, and cellulose from various solutions 4 . Tannins can be categorized into non‐hydrolyzable tannins known as proanthocyanidins or condensed tannins and hydrolyzable tannins (HTs) 5 . Taking food rich in tannins has the potential to prevent chronic ailments, such as cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, obesity, and cancer 6 .…”

“…Plants produce different secondary metabolites among which polyphenols are of great importance, which is engaged in protection from various pathogens and radiation (1]. Polyphenols occur abundantly in fruits and vegetables that we consume in daily lives [1][2][3]. Food consists of polyphenols which attribute to the astringency, taste, coloration, and oxidative stability [3][4].…”

“…Polyphenols occur abundantly in fruits and vegetables that we consume in daily lives [1][2][3]. Food consists of polyphenols which attribute to the astringency, taste, coloration, and oxidative stability [3][4]. Past research and study strongly provide evidence that the constant dietary intake of food with exuberant polyphenols provide defence against various diseases like diabetes [5], cancer [6], cardiovascular diseases [7] and neurodegenerative diseases [8] (Figure 1) As the food with phenols and its derivatives are propitious to health, polyphenols and its derivatives demands are augmenting.…”
