“…In preliminary experiments, we have failed to detect glycosylation of structural or nonstructural proteins in FV3 infected cells (R. Goorha and A. Granoff, unpublished observation). A similar situation is found with several iridescent ICDVs (Wagner et al, 1974;Krell and Lee, 1974). Similarly, the presence of glycoproteins could not be detected in purified FV3 virions.…”

“…Polyacrylamide gel analysis of mosquito iridescent virus disclosed nine proteins, none of which reacted with Schiffs reagent, consistent with a lack of glycoproteins in these virions (Wagner et al, 1974). Tipula iridescent virus was found to contain 28 polypeptides ranging in molecular weight from 17.5 to 300 x 10 3 ; none was a glycoprotein (Krell and Lee, 1974). In keeping with their small size, plant ICDVs have a simple electrophoretic profile of protein; cauliflower mosaic virus contains only two structural proteins, having molecular weights of 68,000 and 33,000 (Tezuka and Taniguchi, 1972).…”

“…The abundance of such proteins in vaccinia virus suggests that virus membrane and core morphogenesis is ascribable to self assembly (Ichihashi et cd, 1984). Different polypeptide patterns have been published for members of the invertebrate iridovirus group (Kelly and Tinsley, 1972;Krell and Lee, 1974;Wagner et aZ., 1974 In a previous study (Barray and Devauchelle, 1979), it was shown that after solubilization of CIV with SDS-@-ME, 16 polypeptides were resolved with molecular weights ranging from 7K to 120K, with a major polypeptide of 51K. This major polypeptide represents about 40% of the 129 total viral protein.…”

“…As shown (Stoltz, 1971, Wagner et al, 1973, chloriridoviruses have bigger sizes and contain fewer polypeptides in comparison with other iridoviruses of insects. Iridovirus from Tipula paludosa contains 28 polypeptides with molecular weight varying from 17.5 kDa to 30 kDa (Krell and Lee, 1974). Iridovirus from Sericestis pruinosa contains 22 polypeptides (Elliot, Lescott and Kelly, 1977), iridoviruses from Simulium and Chilo 25 polypeptides (Devauchelle et al, 1985).…”
