Polymorphism of VEGF gene in susceptibility to chronic immune-mediated inflammatory diseases: a meta-analysis

Abstract: Background Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is an important angiogenic factor and may be connected with chronic immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) to some extent. However, previous researches about the relationship between the +405G>C (dbSNP: rs2010963) polymorphism in VEGF gene and the risk of IMIDs are controversial and inconsistent. So we conducted this meta-analysis to assess whether the relationship between the +405G>C polymorphism in the 5'-UTR region of VEGF gene and IMID susceptibil… Show more

“…As depicted in Figure 2, CAFs 96, NE cells 97, adipose cells 98-100, and inflammatory cells 101-103 in the TME can affect the role of immune cells through the secretion of different cytokines, cell factors, or interacting proteins, which adds several difficulties to the search for markers and targets for cancer therapy 104, 105. In different cell and tumor types, the complexity and heterogeneity of immune factors also provides a further complication to finding more specific markers of the immune cells.…”

“…By contrast, other studies have shown reduced risk with the VEGFA ‐634G/C SNP. Indeed, a meta‐analysis showed that this polymorphism was associated with decreased risk with respect to immune‐mediated inflammatory diseases in Asians . On the other hand, we identified an association between the VEGFA ‐1154G/A polymorphism and reduced risk of developing RA in the Mexican population.…”

“…Three meta‐analyses investigating the association between autoimmune diseases and VEGF polymorphism have concluded that there is a relationship between + 405G/C polymorphism in VEGF and susceptibility to immune‐mediated inflammatory diseases (Che et al, ; Chen et al, ; Wei et al, ). In this study, we speculated that vitiligo may imitate other autoimmune disorders by sharing some of the susceptibility genes and polymorphisms.…”
