Polymorphism of HLA‐DRB1, ‐DQB1 and ‐DPB1 genes in Bai ethnic group in southwestern China

Abstract: In this work, polymorphism of human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DRB1, -DQB1 and -DPB1 genes was detected using polymerase chain reaction-sequence-based typing method in 128 healthy unrelated volunteers from the Bai ethnic group of Yunnan province of southwest China. Among all the 28 alleles detected for the DRB1 gene, the most common allele was DRB1*120201 with a frequency of 16.41%, followed by DRB1*090102, DRB1*080302, DRB1*1404, DRB1*150101, DRB1*140101 and DRB1*160201, with frequencies of 10.16%, 9.77%, 9.38%,… Show more

“…The frequency of HLA-DRB1*12:02:01 was reported to be less than 9% in most Chinese populations [18 -20]. However, HLA-DRB1*12:02:01 was the most common allele in the Bai (16.41%) and Yao (19.80%) ethnic groups in southwest China [21,22]. Hence, investigation of the epidemiology of cardiovascular disease in Bai and Yao minorities may help to further elucidate the role of HLA-DRB1*12:02:01 in the genetic factors of CAD.…”

“…It was notable that HLA‐DPA1*01:03:01 and HLA‐DPB1*04:01:01 were over‐represented in patients with D2R‐specific T cells and demonstrated haplotypic association. These two alleles were prevalent in Polynesian and Amerindian populations, and HLA‐DPB1*04:01:01 was also observed in some oriental and Caucasoid groups 56–61 . In comparison, our cohort consisted of a mixed population who were not of Polynesian or Amerindian background.…”

[56][57][58][59][60][61] In comparison, our cohort consisted of a mixed population who were not of Polynesian or Amerindian background. Specific HLA alleles and linked haplotypes have been strongly associated with other neurological neuroimmune diseases such as leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 (LGI1), contactin-associated protein-like 2 (CASPR2) and N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor (NMDAR) antibody-associated encephalitis.…”
